As I look back over a great Spring, Summer and Fall at The Lilac Tree Suites & Spa, it’s hard to believe that we’re closing our doors for the season on October 25th. We’ve had a banner season, saw so many familiar faces and we enjoyed having many new guests stay with us this season on Mackinac. Thank you all for a sweet season we will miss you all. But as we all know, with every closed door, a new one opens. Staying true to that spirit, The Lilac Tree Suites & Spa will be re-opening again for the Holidays from December 26th– January 3rd. Our guests feel that Mackinac is their home away from home which means Home for the Holidays has a special meaning when we open our doors again on December 26th.
After the hustle and bustle of the Holidays, you’ll want to get away from the Mall madness when people are hitting the stores in your area scrambling for after-Christmas door-buster sales and returning or exchanging gifts. That doesn’t have the sounds of the season I prefer and there’s no better sound than the peaceful beauty of a snow-filled Main Street on Mackinac Island during the Holidays. Mackinac Island offers you the magic of a real winter experience like we had when we were kids and we enjoyed the simple, finer things in life.
Imagine strolling down Main Street in the early morning or afternoon and hearing your feet crunchingthrough the fresh snow. Then come back out for a magical evening to see our glorious Christmas tree all lit upin the middle of town as our way of saying “welcome. “ A warm spa treatment will be waiting for you at The Lilac Tree Spa which will be wonderful after coming in from a snowy hike, or cross-country trek. Enjoy wonderful Holiday movies in our spacious, lower-level room with coffee, hot chocolate and fun games for everyone. Also, make sure you watch one of my favorite movies, filmed on location on Mackinac Island, titled, “Ice Bridge”, a documentary about the hidden beauty of Mackinac Island in winter. There’s no better setting than being right on Mackinac during the Holiday season and seeing it all unfold in pure Mackinac glory.
When it’s time to call it a night and get comfy, don’t be surprised if you hear a gentle knock at your door. Enjoy the treat of our special Holiday turn down service featuring steaming hot chocolate and sweet candy canes. After a warm, cozy, great night’s sleep, you’ll wake up to a hearty Continental breakfast in the lower level, so get ready for another beautiful day on Mackinac Island.
You know how to get here in-season but in the winter, there’s a few ways to get to Mackinac from the mainland. The Arnold Line will be running, so call ahead for their schedule. You can also fly over from the airport in St. Ignace. The view from the air is a sight to behold seeing the Island painted in glorious snowy white- a Holiday postcard sight to behold! Getting to the Lilac Tree Suites & Spa is exciting and you can choose which transportation adventure you prefer. You can take a horse taxi ride and hear the familiar clip- clop through the snow in a Winter wonderland or we can have our very own Josh Carly pick you up in a snowmobile for an exciting ride through the snow. I guarantee he won’t be balancing your luggage on his bike this time!
If you’ve always dreamed of a magical Winter Wonderland on Mackinac, we still have a few roomsavailable so give us a call to make your Suite Winter reservations. We’re looking forward to seeing you at your home away from Home, for the Holidays.
